Humboldt County’s annual Juneteenth Cultural Festival “Honoring the Past to Seed the Future”

Black Humboldt and The NAACP, in collaboration with the Black community of Humboldt County and community partners, announces this year’s Juneteenth Cultural Festival, a multi-day celebration honoring emancipation through culture, education, art, and community connection. Centered on the theme “Honoring the past to seed the future,” this Juneteenth week invites the whole region to gather for joyful, intergenerational events that uplift Black history and living culture while building toward a more connected, resilient future. Juneteenth commemorates the moment in 1865 when news of freedom reached enslaved Black people in Galveston, Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Locally, we honor Juneteenth as both remembrance and renewal: a time to celebrate Black life, creativity, and leadership while strengthening community relationships across Humboldt County. ● Official After Party – Saturday (7pm–1am) Details TBA What to expect at the Day Festival: The Day Festival is designed as a welcoming, multi-zone community experience, including a Kids’ Zone, Humboldt Land Zone (food sovereignty and land-based learning), Community Altar + Archive/Story spaces, Photo Booth + Community Mural wall, Vendor Village (food + goods/services), a Community Pantry/free snacks, Community Organizing & Social Justice Zone, Beer & Wine Garden, and Chill Zones for rest and connection.
