Project Description
Trees Foundation is hiring a Community Equity Coordinator/ Tribal Voice Amplifier to work on our Rural Resilience Partnership project—a grant-funded initiative that brings together ten organizations across three counties. The project creates career pathways for rural residents—youth and adults, Native and Non-Native—to find meaningful employment in forest and river stewardship while building climate resilience in our communities.
Job Description
We’re seeking a Community Equity Coordinator/ Tribal Voice Amplifier to increase inclusive participation in the Rural Resilience Partnership project and to strengthen BIPOC partnerships throughout this collaborative work. This role aims to integrate equity as a core value from the start, increase participation by BIPOC community members, and document our progress toward equitable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct direct outreach to all 10 partner organizations to foster inclusive participation
- Build and strengthen relationships with BIPOC communities, rural communities, and tribal partners across the three-county region
- Identify and address barriers to participation in partnership activities and opportunities
- Support facilitation of two in-person partnership gatherings
- Produce comprehensive equity reports at mid-point and project completion (September 2026) that track participation metrics, identify barriers, and develop recommendations
- Cultivate relationships with tribal governments and BIPOC-led organizations and ensure that these groups have seats at the table and that their voices are heard in the decision-making process
- Foster improved communication between tribes, native-led organizations, non–tribal groups, and government organizations
- Advocate for community priorities within partnership decision-making processes
- Connect community members with training and employment opportunities
Qualifications
Required:
- Lived experience in rural communities within the three-county region
- Demonstrated experience working with tribal communities, rural and extremely rural communities, and BIPOC organizations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently with flexible scheduling
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the region
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Facilitation and/or mediation experience
- Community organizing and/or grassroots engagement experience
- Environmental stewardship and/or workforce development experience
- Bilingual capabilities
Work Environment
Primarily remote work with flexible scheduling, but requires attendance at two in-person partnership gatherings and occasional weekend/evening events. Travel throughout the three-county region as needed. Travel expenses reimbursed.
Some remote work with regular travel to build relationships with each organization, attend events, trainings, and workforce development opportunities, and help with problem-solving and relationship building. Required attendance at two in-person partnership gatherings. Mileage reimbursed.
