Salmonid Restoration Federation

Audio segments from Trees Radio Hour!

Interview with Dana Stolzman, Executive Director of the Salmonid Restoration Federation
December, 2003

Bridging the grassroots restoration movement and government management agencies, SRF provides networking and education opportunities for the statewide restoration community. The annual conference each March is a unique opportunity to explore the art and science of watershed and fisheries restoration.

SRF was founded in 1987 by members of several restoration groups to create an information clearinghouse and to organize an annual conference. Two main objectives of the SRF are to improve the effectiveness of California's salmonid restoration efforts and to develop the public and political support essential for the maintenance and expansion of restoration program efforts. The Federation's activities are generally habitat restoration and enhancement, fish population improvements, and community outreach and public education programs, but they also include participation in the development of state and federal salmonid fishery restoration plans, objectives, and policies; promotion of public involvement in the restoration of California's salmonid fisheries; and advocating changes in key government policies and regulations that hinder or obstruct restoration of California's salmonid fisheries. SRF's annual conference offers a wide variety of workshops and attracts participants from throughout the state.
